ABOUT “TRACING THEIR FOOTSTEPS” A FAMILY HISTORY ALBUM

I have been researching my Texas roots now for four years. It has been a rewarding experience. I have connected with so many wonderful relatives which I did not know.   There has been family reunions on my Favors branch, Reynolds branch and Jackson branch.  I have located the Runnels family who relocated to Oklahoma and lost touch with everyone in the 50s.  I visited Bonham, Texas for the first time in 2010 and again 2012.  During those visits, I walked the land that was owned by Pompey Favors and I walked the slave cemetery where our ancestors are buried.

The Bonham courthouse was a valuable resource.  I found documents that are not available online.  The documents contained slave information that provided valuable pieces to our family puzzle.  The Edmun Winston family footsteps were traced from Louisiana to Texas as slaves. I found a bill of sale for my great-grandfather Pompey Favors dated 1860 which answered the question of  how he met his second wife Texanna Winston and discovered that he had a first wife.  Through documents found at the courthouse, I discovered a Winston family member we never knew about.  I still don't know what happened to him but I hope to discover that soon.  With dedication, perseverance and a lot of time we can trace our ancestors.

We currently have family tree of 2200 people and hundreds of supporting documents.  All of this information will be compiled and put in a book for our children.  Please consider sharing your stories and family history. In order to know where you are going you must know where you have been.  This work is done with joy and dedicated to the memory of our parents, their parents and so on.  It is also for the future of our children.

I am still looking for the following information:

Family group information for each family
 Photos (all types)
 Family Oral History
The history of our migration from Texas
 Information On The Last Slaves
 Birth  And Death Information
 Marriage Information
 Military Service
Copies of pages from existing family bibles
 Club Affiliations
 Church Affiliations
 Awards
  Census Records

Any other types of information you want to submit about yourself or family member (Aunt Jo’s favorite recipe, old letters, postcards, poems, report cards, baptismal certificates, old school pictures, pictures of the old family home, etc.)

Once I have completed my research, I will develop the information into book format and have it published to share with all of you.
